When we showed you guys the Polaris Slingshot over on our Facebook, y’all went a little crazy. Some of you said how you’d love to take this toy for a spin. Others said, “Hell no!” Either way, the responses we got were pretty passionate and we thought that we’d take a closer look at this new ride.
The Polaris Slingshot is a three-wheel motorcycle that looks like the love child of a UTV and a bike. Some people really dig the look, others, not so much.
“Slingshot was designed to deliver head-turning exhilaration on two dimensions,” said Mike Jonikas, vice president of Slingshot, in a recent press release. “First is the exhilaration that you can see, hear and feel while riding in Slingshot. Second is the exhilaration you feel when people turn their heads to stare at Slingshot’s unique and exotic styling.”
So, expecting a new view is one thing to love about the Slingshot.
The open-air cockpit of Slingshot is really the selling point when coupled with the UTV-style seating. Both driver and passenger can experience the ride in a new way. It has a wide stance, a sport-tuned suspension, and a lightweight make that only enhances the performance.
It’s powered by a 2.4-liter dual-overhead cam engine and a five-speed manual transmission. It also showcases advanced motorcycle features, including electronic stability and traction control, three-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, LED taillights, forged aluminum roll hoops, and three-point seat belts.
