Cajun Muddy Gras 2019
Muddy Bottoms ATV & Recreation Park
February 15th – 18th
To celebrate Mardi Gras each year, Muddy Bottoms ATV & Recreation Park in Sarepta, Louisiana throws one hell of a mud party. The annual Cajun Muddy Gras is the park’s first event of the year to kick off the riding season and the 2019 event brought in mud enthusiasts by the thousands. We loaded up our Polaris General and ventured down to Muddy Bottoms to join the fun in the mud February 15th – 18th; Cajun Muddy Gras 2019 was no doubt an awesome event.
Cajun Muddy Gras 2019 kicked off Friday as the park opened the gates to riders; the traffic of RV’s, big rigs and a ton of trucks and trailers hauling side by sides seemed non-stop. We spent our first day riding and exploring the 5,000 acre park. We’ve been to Muddy Bottoms a few times before and always seem to find new trails to ride. Although attendance was in the thousands, the trails hardly seem crowded due to the vast size of the park. Muddy Bottoms does a great job on marking, mapping and maintaining the trails. Each year they always work to improve the park and each year it becomes more and more impressive.
On Saturday, many riders decorated their UTVs and ATVs with a Mardi Gras theme for the Parade of Wheelers; the parade made its way around the park’s main loop for other attendees to enjoy. The parade had a great turnout and was a ton of fun with winners selected for best float, best UTV and best ATV. Everyone did a great job and it was neat to see all the decorated machines.
The entertainment cranked up on Saturday night with a live concert featuring country music legend Tracy Lawrence and special guest Dan Smalley. Thousands of attendees gathered at the stage for some great performances, it was great to see Tracy Lawrence’s show and a lot of fun to sing along to some country classics. The theater at Muddy Bottoms was designed to accommodate professional musicians; the stage is large in size and has great sound.
Muddy Bottoms ATV & Recreation is definitely a park to put on your list to visit, with over 100 miles of trails, an abundance of mud pits and excellent accommodations you’ll be impressed; it may even be your new favorite park to ride at. The park features a welcome center, a pro shop, a water park, a nice shower house, gas pumps, a buggy wash, cabins, tons of full RV hook ups and lots of primitive camping.
All in all, Cajun Muddy Gras 2019 was a huge success. It was great to get out and ride at such a nice park, meet new friends and hang out with old ones. Cajun Muddy Gras is the perfect event to kick off a year of SxS riding and is a guaranteed good time. Whether it’s this event or another event, we encourage you to put this park on your list and bring our UTV to Muddy Bottoms for some great riding.
