Side by side riding is truly turning into a lifestyle for a lot of people. One main reason for the explosion of the side by side market today is the option to take a passenger comfortably with you when on your expedition. For every expedition a partner in crime is almost essential, and for Chris Garlington, his partner in crime is his dad.
We met Chris Garlington during the 2014 “Muddin’ for the Military” at the Muddy Bottoms park over the 4th of July weekend. Chris was hanging out at the “Gorilla Axle Mud Pit” when we took notice of his clean looking 2014 Can-Am Maverick 1000r. Chris and I struck up a conversation about his Maverick and the good times he was having at Muddy Bottoms and how his dad was a big part of the fun.
Chris told me the story of how he and his dad were always into motorcycles until his dad became ill and had three strokes which made it impossible for his dad to ride. Without his dad to ride with, Chris sold his motorcycle and decided to purchase a 4-wheeler, which made his dad kind of feel left out. Chris wanted to get back to riding with his dad again so he sold the 4-wheeler and purchased a Can-Am Side by Side so his dad could enjoy riding with him again. Thankfully, Chris’s dad is healthy once again which allows him to enjoy some quality father and son riding time together and they are loving it.
When Chris decided to purchase a Side by Side, he knew it was going to be a 2014 Can-Am Maverick 1000r, all the way. As a salesman at “Campers RV Center” in Shreveport, LA, Chris was already very familiar with the Can-Am lineup and knew that was the rig for him. He jumped right into customizing his brand new rig by taking the roll cage off and having it powder coated bright lime green to accent the white body color. He installed a lift kit so his Maverick would be able to accept the new set of 14″ MSA rims with the 32″ Terminator tires.
Chris installed an Offroad Sound Sytems roof with Wet Sounds speakers and added a 40″ Cree LED light bar by Moonshine XXX. An Rogue Off-road hood was added as well as a Yeti Cooler and mount. And for the days when Chris wants to run in some deep water, he installed the XMR Snorkel kit.
Purchasing the Maverick has paid off. Chris says his dad is loving the time they have spent riding and it has really helped them be able to spend more quality time together, which is fantastic. Chris and his dad have embraced the UTV lifestyle in a big way; it’s awesome to hear stories of how the Side by Side lifestyle is impacting people’s lives in such a positive way!
