2016 High Lifter Quadna Mud Nationals

Riders from across the nation traveled to Hill City, Minnesota to join up with off road enthusiasts in the northern part of the country for the annual High Lifter Quadna Mud Nationals during June 12th- 14th. 2016 marks High Lifter’s 4th year, in collaboration with Polaris, to put on the ATV and side by side mud event. Located at Quadna Mountain Park just outside of Hill City, the event attracts a growing number of attendees each year, riders from throughout Minnesota, as well as North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan and Canada would yet again break the record for attendance with numbers in the lower thousands.

High Lifter Products, an aftermarket off road product manufacturer from Shreveport, Louisiana, knows how to throw a party. Much like their annual Mud Nats event in Jacksonville, TX, which has been going strong for over a decade, the Qudana Mud Nationals offers a full weekend of camping, trail riding, mud bogging and a schedule full of daily activities.  With no shortage of fun, event actives for both ATVs and side by sides include an obstacle course, mud bog racing, a sled pull and even a poker run. The Poker Run, sponsored by Arctic Cat, set riders off into the trails only to follow a map to five check points. At each check point riders would draw a poker card in hopes to have the best hand for a prize.

High Lifter started the Mud Nats tradition as a way to gather friends, family, customers and other avid off roaders for weekend of riding and to get a look at some of the latest off road products.  Many aftermarket vendors, like ITP Tires and Wheels, MTX Audio and MB Quart, set up display tents in the vendor area showcasing their latest products and UTV builds.  OEMs like Polaris, Can Am, Arctic Cat, and CFMOTO displayed their latest fleet of ATV’s and side by sides giving customers the opportunity to get a good look, ask questions and even take a ride in the new vehicles. Polaris was very busy; they set up shop offering maintenance to any customer’s side by side that was affected by the recent recall of some RZR models.

Attendees wouldn’t have to go home empty handed, aside from freebies passed out by OEMs and aftermarket vendors, there were several opportunities throughout the day, each day, to line up at the MB Quart Prize Wheel and give it a spin for a chance to win a prize from participating vendors.

There was no shortage of entertainment either, aside from the occasional rider dressed in a wacky costume, attendees enjoyed live music as well as an amazing freestyle ATV show by The ATV Big Air Tour. The Quadna Mud Nationals was the first stop in the 2016 ATV Big Air Tour which featured professional athletes flying high in quads performing mind blowing stunts.

Aside from event activities, Quadna Mountain Park offers plenty to do. The park itself consists of over 1000 acres of land with a vast and well maintained trail system for riders of all skill levels. The park connects to the Aitkin County Northwoods ATV Trail system, a public trail system consisting of hundreds of miles of connected, marked and maintained trails throughout Aitkin County.

On our trail ride we departed from Quadna Mountain Park on the Hill City Connector Trail, it was fast flowing, well maintained and had several mud holes. We rode about 6-8 miles to the next town south of Hill City and arrived at the Corner Club, a bar and grill in Haypoint, MN, where we enjoyed a fantastic lunch and the company of some friendly locals. After lunch we buzzed back up the trail and back to the event, during our ride we saw many public rest stops with picnic tables, where riders could stop and enjoy themselves. The trail also had an interesting stretch, made of rail road ties and lumber, we rode across a wooden trail that winds and turns above a marshy terrain. The fast flowing trail left us hungry for more; we wished we had more time to explore more trails. We encourage you to add Quadna Mountain Park and the Aitkin County Northwoods ATV Trail system to your bucket list of places to ride; we can’t wait to go back.

All in all, the 2016 High Lifter Quadna Mud Nationals was huge success. Quadna Mud Nats is the ultimate hangout event in the north for a good time with friends and a great opportunity to meet new ones.
