Sand Sports Super Show
OC Fair and Event Center
Costa Mesa, CA
Sept 15th – 17th

Known as the biggest sand sports expo in the world, the Sand Sports Super Show in Costa Mesa, California is the premier event of the year for the UTV industry. For off road enthusiasts in the Southwest it’s known as the official kickoff party for the dune riding season. 2017 marks the 19th year for the annual event which took place at the OC Fair and Event Center September 15th – 17th. It was one of the biggest turnouts ever, with a record breaking attendance in the thousands; it was a great indication that the continued growth of the UTV market is still strong.

Over 300 vendors were present this year, including many aftermarket UTV parts and accessory companies displaying their latest and greatest products. Not only was it a great way for retail stores like us to stay on top of what’s new and in demand, spectators could visit their favorite UTV brands for handshakes and free swag and could even purchase products from select vendors while supplies last.

The “Sand Show” caters to all things off road, many trophy trucks, sand rails, rock crawlers and custom builds were on display, but they were no comparison to the amount of side by sides that were present. Builders and aftermarket companies worked very hard prior to the show to bring some of the sickest UTV builds to display in their booths, it was a great way for consumers to get ideas for their own rides as well as appreciate custom work that was well over the top.

OEMs like Can-Am, Honda, Textron Offroad and Yamaha were present showing off their latest fleet of machines as well as their sponsored professional race UTVs.

Yamaha had their all new 2018 Wolverine X4 on display which was recently released just a couple weeks prior to the show. Yamaha also had a short course dirt track set up at the event allowing spectators to get a chance to get behind the wheel of their YXZ 1000R sport machine.

Textron Offroad displayed their fleet of Wildcats as well as a really awesome Stampede build that attracted a lot of attention.

Industry celebrities like Ivan “Ironman” Stewart and Ronnie Renner were present shaking hands with fans and representing brands. It was really cool to get a few minutes with the industry rock stars.

Several professional UTV racers were present as well, we had the opportunity to get a one on one interview with pro UTV Racer Phil Blurton. Phil is the first Can Am driver to achieve back to back wins in the history of the Best in the Desert racing series taking 1st on the podium at the UTV World Championship and Vegas to Reno in his No Limit Race Development Can-Am Maverick X3. Look for our exclusive interview with Phil in the near future.

It was also great to catch up with some of our favorite pro UTV racers at the show, like Assault Industries / KMC Wheels driver Adrian Orellana making an appearance in the KMC Wheels booth, S3 Racing’s Dustin Jones and Dustin Henderson hanging out at the Monster Energy and Can-Am booths and KMC Wheels driver Jeremiah Staggs who also made an appearance in the KMC Wheels booth.

The 2017 Sand Sports Show was a ton fun; it was great to catch up with our vendors that were present at the show. We loved the opportunity to take a look at the all the SxS products that were new to market, plus it was a great opportunity to scout for new vendors and products to add to our wide selection of UTV parts and accessories at The Sand Sports Super Show is a great way to check out the latest in UTV technology and feast your eyes on some of the best off-road builds in the industry. If you’ve never been, we encourage you to put the 2018 Sand Sports Super Show on your calendar; we guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
