There are many cases where military helicopters have to land in conditions with extreme dust, like Iraq and Afghanistan. In order to protect the machine, military helicopters utilize particle separators to prevent their filters from clogging and otherwise avoiding a catastrophic situation. Fontana, California company S&B Filters has taken the initiative to apply this technology to UTVs, this machine specific Particle Separator allows your side by side to maintain power and protects the machine’s engine in the most extreme conditions.

Your stock filter does a good job at stopping the dirt but can clog very quickly. When your filter clogs the power to your engine can be robbed; the Particle Separator keeps your filter clean so your engine maintains the power it needs to make it up that tall dune or stay ahead of the competition until the end of the race. Most stock systems will reach capacity after only 74 grams of dust, with the Particle Separator an astonishing 2,536 grams of dust can be ingested before your filter needs to be changed.
How It Works
The Particle Separator has 19 vortexes that the dirty air enters.
As the air is spun when entering the vortex the centrifugal force throws the dust to the outer sides of the tube where it then exits through a rear slot, while the clean air continues forward through a tube that is centered inside the vortex.
A scavenge fan ejects the dust through the exhaust while the clean air is directed to your stock air filter. The scavenge fan only draws 3.1 amps; it is also specially rated for 50,000 hours in harshest conditions including dust, snow and water.
If you ride on terrain like the sand or desert you know that frequently changing air filters is a must. Of course no one wants to replace their air filter after every ride, with this product you won’t have to, the Particle Separator ejects 94% of the dust before it reaches your stock filter. In conclusion your stock filter will last up to 15 times longer, saving you a great deal of time and money.

This product is a great investment to protect your engine. When your filter gets clogged your machine’s engine will still attempt to consume the air it needs to run, the amount of restriction (pressure) then significantly increases. Added pressure can cause dust and debris to be pulled through the filter media and around the sealing surfaces resulting in damage to your engine. With the S&B Particle Separator the majority of the dust is ejected so your filter stays cleaner for a much longer period of time.

How does it install?
This product works with virtually any cage or roof, utilizing model specific billet clamps you can install the separator to either the upper or lower rear roll bar of your UTV. No worries about voiding your warranty, this product works with your stock filter system. No special air filter is needed either, a silicone tube attaches to the stock air inlet opening and S&B provides a side cover that replaces the frogskin.
