If you’re lucky enough to live in a state where the Department of Transportation allows for you to license your side by side, be sure to stop by our site and check out our new D.O.T. approved parts and accessories selection.
While the D.O.T. requirements for each state are different, you can find many of the staples on our site to make your Commander, XP 900, or RZR street legal. Items like side mirrors, harnesses, light kits, tires, license plate holders, windshields, and rear view mirrors can help you turn your side by side into a machine that can truly go anywhere. But first, you’ll need to check with your state’s D.O.T. to find out the requirements for off-highway vehicles (OHVs). Many transportation authorities make the requirements available online for download, or you can stop at a local office to pick up information on how to turn your side by side into a vehicle that’s allowed on public roads.
Additionally, you’ll want to check with your local government to see if there are any additional laws or regulations covering off-highway vehicles. If you’re planning on doing a lot of off-roading in your area, you may also want to contact local land management agencies for update information on access, closures, rules, and regulations. Either way, we’re seeing more states licensing side by sides – and that’s good news to us.
Let your ride meet the pavement head on. Check out these new sections on Side By Side Stuff to find D.O.T. approved tires and side by side parts:
