Back for Round 2
The second stop of the 2022 UTV Takeover tour takes us to MidAmerica Outdoors in Jay, Oklahoma where we joined fellow off-road enthusiasts for a jam-packed weekend of outdoor family fun. For the 2022 season, the Oklahoma event relocates to one of the most pristine off-road parks in the country, MidAmerica Outdoors. A growing venue with a focus on outdoor motorsports and a resort-like atmosphere, MAO is quickly establishing itself as an off-road event mecca and the perfect place for a UTV Takeover event.
Pedal to the Floor
The weekend unfolds with a variety of UTV racing, the perfect competition as MAO is 100% set up with short courses, designated hill climbs, a dragstrip, and even an obstacle course. From the short course races and rhythm races to the Barbie Jeep downhill races, egos were challenged, and the competition was fierce. Racers and spectators alike had a blast with the variety of adrenaline-pumped entertainment in a who’s the best showdown. The weekend would continue with daily and nightly drag races, Hillclimb competitions, and even a mud obstacle course.

No doubt, the racing got intense, we captured some carnage and even this crazy rollover. Fortunately, no one was injured.
Bring On the Mud
If you’ve been following closely, you know we like to play in the mud. One of our favorite events of the weekend was Mudfest, a time trial competition in a stadium-style obstacle course dubbed the High Lifter Extreme Park after park sponsor High Lifter. The course features an assortment of tires, ramps, logs, and of course, mud pits. UTVs raced for the fastest time putting on one heck of a show!
Taking Over MidAmerica Outdoors
Down at the MAO main event area, UTV Takeover takes over. From a Show N Shine to a stereo competition, Rock N Roll Bingo, live music, and more, the UTV Takeover crew captures the crowd with a variety of games and great entertainment. Plus, the food court was amazing, my arm twists pretty easily for street tacos. No doubt, each activity held at the main event area was a blast, it was fun to mingle with fellow attendees and make some new friends in the process.
Vendor Row Takes the Show
The vendor row at UTV Takeover Oklahoma was huge! Four lanes of OEM and aftermarket intensity. Aftermarket parts and accessory companies like Seizmik, High Lifter, Falcon Ridge, MTX Audio, Trinity Racing, MB Quart, Raceline Wheels, Gator Waders, MSA Wheels, KMC Wheels, EFX Tires, Fuel Off-Road, Off-Road Vixens, ITP Tires and Wheels, Rugged Radios, CST Tires, KFI Products, Ultimax Belts plus many more, were set up showing off products, chatting with attendees and handing out free goodies.
UTV Takeover title sponsor Falcon Ridge was present launching their all-new Ascent Tire! Coming soon as the latest addition to the Falcon Ridge wheel and tire lineup, the Ascent tire has a great all-terrain tread pattern with 8-ply radial construction. Durable and it looks great, we can’t wait to see how they perform.
High Lifter came in strong at this event as well, not only did they sponsor the park and the High Lifter Extreme Obstacle Course, big lifts and High Lifter portals dominated the Show N Shine and could be spotted throughout the weekend. That goes for yours truly as well, we have the STUFF General equipped with High Lifter Apexx Arms and 6” Dual Idler Portals.
Demo Rides? Let’s Go
Can-Am and Kawasaki both had a big presence at the event, displaying the latest in their UTV lineup as well as offering demo rides all weekend long. Take your pick, or why not do both? Hop into a Can-Am Maverick X3 X rs and hit the trails with the Can-Am Crew, or head over to Kawasaki and try out the new Kawasaki Teryx KRX 4 1000.
Beating the Heat
When we said MidAmerica had a resort-like atmosphere, it might have been an understatement. One of the coolest things about MAO on a hot summer day is the pool! Two pools to be exact. Plus, a kids’ splash park and even a lazy river. Yes, the pool area is pretty sweet and a great way to get cooled down, relax and have some fun. The pool area also has a bar to grab a cold drink and a big movie screen where UTV Takeover even held a kid’s movie night for the youngins.
Late Night Shenanigans
Each evening as the day cooled down, the nightlife heated up. Live music, nightly drag races, night rides and more would kick off the evening, we even got a few fire shows from UTV Takeover athlete Troy. All evening the fun seemed non-stop, and just when things wrap up and close down, everyone heads over to Coconuts! Coconuts is a bar at MAO. There you’ll find a friendly staff, cold drinks, and live music. The fun goes into the morning and the good times roll, until the last call at least.
A Premier Off-Road Venue
MidAmerica Outdoors is a 1,600+ acre off-road riding and racing resort. We do mean the resort, with premium amenities including a huge pro shop, restaurant, multiple bars, two pools, a lazy river, a splash park, an amphitheater, and more. The park has a ton of cabins and full hook-up campsites, plus plenty of primitive camping available too. The facilities are second to none, bath and shower houses are pristine and clean, and they even have free buggy washes and a free laundromat mat with soap provided.
How can it get better? Well, how about several race courses as they host multiple race events throughout the year bringing in some of the biggest off-road race circuits in the country including Ultra4, National Rock Racing Association, and the MAO SXS Championship? Pair that with miles of trail riding and some of the biggest names in music and let MidAmerica Outdoors blow your mind.
All In All
UTV Takeover Oklahoma was a huge success! From the wide variety of entertainment to the action-packed competition, and everything in between, the fun never seemed to end. We had a blast hanging out at the event, enjoying the activities, and making new friends along the way. You definitely have to put UTV Takeover Oklahoma 2023 on your calendar, we’ll see ya there!
