Mudaholic Convention 2018 at River Run ATV Park

Thousands of mud enthusiasts ventured out to River Run ATV park in Jacksonville, Texas November 8th – 11th for the Mudaholic Convention. Just one of River Run’s 10 annual events, the Mudaholic Convention features a weekend full of riding along with many vendors to visit and activities on the schedule. Although the weather may have been on the chilly side, it didn’t stop riders from attending the party; the mud conditions were perfect and, let’s face it, “Mudaholics” are hardcore.

With a schedule full of activities, there was plenty for attendees to do at the event. Activities included a poker run, a chili cook-off contest, strait bog racing, the Crank-It-Up audio competition, live music and more. One of our favorite events of the weekend was the Bounty Hole, drivers would put their machine to the test by submerging it in a stretch of deep, thick mud in hopes to make it through; competing for the best time and cash prizes.

Whether you needed a pair of waders, UTV parts or something good to eat, there were plenty of vendors on site to do a little shopping. River Run even has their own convince store to buy park apparel, camping essentials and fuel. UTV accessory company Rogue Off-Road was onsite at the event, Rogue Off-Road actually has a shop at the park where they work on machines during park events helping riders to get back on the trails.

Located on the Neches River, southeast of Frankston and just west of Jacksonville, River Run ATV Park offers over 2,000 acres of private land for OHV riding. From mud pits and extreme mud riding to dry trails and oil field roads, the park offers riding for just about type of off-road vehicle, including 4×4 trucks, ATV’s and of course UTVs. The park also allows guests to fish, swim and even horseback ride. 

The park has great accommodations featuring cabins, RV sites and primitive camping as well as shower houses, restrooms, an RV dump station and even a wash station. Cabins and RV sites fill up fast during event weekends but they have plenty of room for primitive dry camping. 

River Run has a vast amount of trails; it seemed even park regulars would get spun around sometimes. Not only was it nice that the park provided a detailed map but, the trail map was even available on the Maplets app. The app showed our location via GPS, making it much easier to navigate our way around the park.

All in all we had a great time at the Mudaholic Convention; we really enjoyed the trail system, fun atmosphere and festivities. We can’t wait to get back to River Run for another event.
