Thousands off off-road enthusiasts ventured to the OC Fair and Event Center in Costa Mesa, California September 14th – 16th for the annual Sand Sports Super Show. 2018 marks the 20th anniversary of the event, its success continues to stand firm growing larger each year. Since the rise of UTVs, the Sand Sports Super Show has transformed from predominately sand rails to primarily side by sides. The shift in the off-road industry is a good indicator of the growth and success of the UTV market.

The event boasts over 300 vendors with many aftermarket UTV parts and accessory companies displaying their latest products. For stores like us, it was great to check out what’s new in the industry and what’s in demand. Plus, it’s a great way to touch base with many of our vendors. For most event attendees, it’s a great way to pick up some discounted parts and gear, plus tons of free swag from their favorite UTV brands.

When it comes to customized UTV builds, you bring your A game to the Sand Show. From clean and tasteful to extremely over the top, the level of UTV builds were top notch and the sheer amount was unbelievable; it seemed like just about everyone brought a bad ass SxS to the show.

You never know what else you’ll see at the show. From a helicopter to extreme off-road rigs, there’s always some pretty unique stuff to check out as well.

Several OEMs like Polaris, Can-Am, Yamaha, Textron and Honda were present showing off some their own builds as well as their latest UTV models.

Polaris brought out a few of their newly debuted RZR XP 4 Turbo S units to display, they also encouraged attendees to sign up at their booth to win a new Polaris RZR RS1 and get a free RZR t-shirt.

Along with a fleet of decked out Wildcat XX units, Textron showcased their newly debuted Wildcat XX LTD. Textron also had a huge wall of plinko built into their booth; giving prizes to visiting attendees.

Not only did Yamaha have their machines on display, they showcased a new Weller Racing YXZ 1000 R along with a sweet YXZ build of their own.

Can-Am teamed up with Monster Energy for one serious booth featuring many Maverick X3 racecars. Can-Am also had the newly debuted Maverick Sport on display as well.

Monster Energy had a big set up with many attractive Monster girls greeting fans, let’s just say they didn’t have to twist our arm for us to swing in for an energy drink!

Pro off-road racer Marc Burnett’s X3 was at the Can-Am / Monster Energy booth amongst many others; we actually ran into Marc just before the show, he couldn’t have been nicer.

There were many other pro UTV racers attending the event as well, we ran into another one of our favorites Katie Vernola.

Nikola was back with their new NZT electric UTV. Offering demo rides at the show, attendees got the chance to hop in the 590 HP electric side by side for a ride along on a really cool short course.

Aside from checking out all the UTV stuff, the Sand Sports Super Show offered even more to attendees, including a wide variety of food and beverage vendors, D.J. entertainment, an MX Enduro cross and even a vendor scavenger hunt to participate in for some really great prizes.

All in all, the Sand Sports Super Show was a huge success; we really enjoyed catching up with our vendors at the show.
