Rednecks with Paychecks has been on our radar for quite some time; when we heard the rescheduled date for their Spring Break event, we got excited because it was going to work perfectly into our schedule. For our adventure in June, we loaded up our Polaris General and shot down to Saint Jo, Texas for Rednecks with Paychecks Spring Break Take 2.
You don’t have to be a Redneck to love the RWP events, all are welcome, and we think anyone would truly enjoy it. If you are a Redneck, well, you’re in for a real treat. Rednecks with Paychecks has everything a mud loving, cold drink havin’ horsepower junkie could ask for. From UTVs and high horsepower rigs to custom built buggies, Jeeps and mega trucks, there’s something interesting or impressive in about any direction you turn your head. It’s a 4-day, full-fledged party boasting a variety of events, activities and entertainment.
From the ATV, UTV and Mega Truck Bounty Hole on Friday to the UTV and Mega Truck Races on Saturday, the RWP crew did a great job providing the entertainment for spectators. These events drew in big crowds and were very enjoyable to watch.
Another awesome event is the Barbie Jeep Downhill. Backed by high popularity, this is one you don’t want to miss. Participants take their turn running a “Barbie Jeep” (yes, a kids toy) down a very steep hill for a cash prize. Fastest time wins, there’s only one winner and a whole lot of crashes. It’s pretty brutal for the participants, but that’s what makes it so fun to watch. If you haven’t seen it already, be sure to check out our video of this at the bottom of this page. It’s all in good fun. For the participant’s safety helmets are required, thankfully no one was seriously injured.
There were plenty of vendors on site. A wide variety of food vendors were present, attendees had a nice variety to choose from so you had plenty of options to get your grub on. There were also several aftermarket parts and accessory vendors on site, including Super ATV and Wheel Pros (MSA Offroad Wheels, Fuel Off-Road, KMC Wheels, EFX Tires), attendees could check out some cool products and even purchase on site with select vendors.
On Friday and Saturday night, attendees got to enjoy some live music from some great artists. The main stage is a professional setup with great sound making it a real pleasure to rock out to good tunes. Next to the stage was the VIP area, VIP attendees could get into large outdoor bar for free drinks and access to an upper deck to view the concerts.
Each night of RWP attendees gather on what I call “the strip”, which is essentially the main road between campsites, event areas, mud pits and vendor row. UTVs, Jeeps, trucks and all sorts of custom buggies park on each side of the road as others drive back and forth in a Mardi Gras parade type atmosphere. This was the central hangout and party scene every evening and, boy, it was a ton of fun.
Rednecks with Paychecks Offroad Park has over 1,200 acres with a variety of terrain including deep and shallow mud pits, man-made and natural rock courses, canyons, tight trails and miles of creek beds. There’s a large abundance of camping areas, so much that they guarantee they will never run out of camping for attendees. You’ll also find shower houses, a fueling station and a few buggie wash stations. RWP also has their own food, ice and souvenir vendors.
All in all, Rednecks with Paychecks Spring Break Take 2 was a huge success. If you’re into a weekend of high horsepower, fun in the mud, and a full-on party be sure to get one of their events on your schedule. They have two events a year, one in the spring and one in the fall. Be sure to check in at the RWP website for their next event. Be advised this is an 18 and older event and a guaranteed good time.
