UTV Takeover Oregon | Taking Over the Oregon Dunes

UTV Takeover Oregon has been on our bucket list for some time now. If you haven’t heard, UTV Takeover is a series of SxS oriented rallies that have expanded to several locations across the country, literally taking over as America’s premier UTV event tour. We’ve had the chance to attend UTV Takeovers in Virginia, Oklahoma, and Utah, and it was about time we made it to the Oregon event where it all started.

2021 marks the 6th year for the annual event taking place in the Oregon Dunes National Recreational Area in the North Bend / Coos Bay area and is home to the original UTV Takeover event. The Oregon Dunes National Recreational Area is known as the UTV, ATV, and Dune Buggy capital of the Pacific coast, it’s the largest expanse of coastal dunes in North America stretching around 40 miles along the Oregon Coast. The sandy terrain features an abundance of sand dunes that reach as high as 500 feet above sea level, the massive dunes give a thrilling, roller coaster like experience UTV drivers and passengers will never forget. The thrill of ripping through the dunes is an experience like no other, and with the combination of beautiful scenery and the friendly people of Oregon, it makes it a perfect location for a UTV Takeover.

Thousands of offroad enthusiasts hit the dunes for UTV Takeover weekend, filling up campsites and nearby hotels. This year’s event achieved a record-breaking attendance as riders came in from across the country to participate in the many activities as well as enjoy the endless entertainment and fair-like atmosphere UTV Takeover has to offer.

From short course racing and drag racing, to guided group rides and the famous Huckfest, UTV Takeover had no shortage of actives for attendees to participate and spectate. There was even a monster truck show! The activity schedule is so jampacked, not only are there events that include sandslingin’ side by sides, but there are plenty of activities right in the massive vendor area including family-friendly games, Show-N-Shine contests, Stereo Wars, and more!

Not only will you find great food down vendor row but many aftermarket UTV parts and accessory companies as well. The massive vendor row featured over 70 vendors including some of our favorite parts companies, CST Tires, Off-Road Vixens, Assault Industries, PRP Seats, SpeedStrap, Rugged Radios, MB Quart, and Super ATV.

OEMs were present as well, including Polaris and Yamaha. Yamaha even had a fleet of side by sides with them for attendees to take demo rides through the sand dunes.

Several UTV Takeover athletes were on the scene as well, including UTV stuntman Al McBeth, UTV stuntman Ruslan Yankilevich, Youtuber and offroad racer Blake Wilkey, and UTV racer Wyatt Hastings. Not only were these big hitters participating in the organized events and putting on a great show, but you could also find these down-to-earth guys hanging out throughout the weekend and greeting the fans!
