We first got a glimpse at this custom build at the 2016 Sand Sports Super Show where it made its debut, but it was while attending Camp RZR West in Glamis, California when we hooked up with Chris Leaming from XTC Power Products to get a closer look at this one of a kind build that is undisputedly bad ass; XTC Power Products’ Hell RAZR.

Unlike most UTV builds, Hell RAZR didn’t start out as a complete car that would be torn down and built back up. Instead XTC decided it would be much easier and cheaper to order the factory frame, interior and exterior pieces he needed to start the build, so he called his local RideNow dealer and did just that. Once the parts were in, XTC started their new project in the hands of TMW Offroad, a local fab shop in Mesa, Arizona known for some of the sickest UTV builds to date. The guys at TMW modified the frame to suit their needs, the plan: a RZR packed with a punch, a 475 horsepower Gen 3 closed deck EJ25 Subaru motor.

Once the fab work was done it was time for some color, Chris took it to Precision Powdercoat Inc. in Phoenix where a fresh coat of candy red was applied to the frame. After the powdercoat, Chris brought the car back to XTC Power Products where they began pulling XTC products off the shelf to use in their new build. From power control systems to turn signal kits, XTC Power Products specializes in high quality, easy to install plug and play wiring kits that result in a very clean and professional look as well as significantly reducing installation time.

Next Chris and the crew at XTC Power Products focused on Hell RAZR’s engine and transaxle installation. Making big HP requires ditching the Subaru factory components for parts that will handle the HP that Hell RAZR makes. An EJ25 Subaru engine was selected because of the low weight to power ratio and low center of gravity due to the flat horizontal cylinder configuration. The polished 4 cylinder boxer engine got the works including a 2.5L Gen 3 closed deck block fitted with forged rods and crankshaft. JDM heads are held in place with half-inch ARP head studs. Wrapping up the engine compartment is the Mendeola 2D 4 speed transaxle and custom turbo headers built by TMW to fit the T5 turbocharger.

When it came time to work out the fuel delivery system, it was clear that the factory fuel pump wasn’t going to be up to the task so some fabricating tricks were used to integrate the high flow Bosch fuel pump. Making spark for the 475 HP monster is serious business, Motec’s standalone ECU was called upon for this task. Chris went with Gear-One Mid Board hubs along with 930 CVs and chromoly axles to transfer the power to the wheels as well as utilizing four piston front calipers to help control the cars speed.

XTC wasn’t done with TMW Offroad yet; they also went with a TMW doors, long travel suspension, custom cage and gusset kit.

Hell RAZR’s interior is extremely immaculate; XTC went with Triple X suede bucket seats and Crow 4 point harnesses. they also added a tilt-up moon roof and lined the door panels with suede to accent Hell RAZR’s sleek appearance. XTC went with a GlazzKraft carbon fiber dash kit equipped with AutoMeter gauges, XTC switches, and a Lowrance 7” GPS kit. As for lighting Chris went with all Rigid products, for communications he went with Rugged Radios and for audio he choose the Rockford Fosgate Stage 5 system, everything was easy to install using XTC’s plug and play wiring kits.

Finally, XTC left it up Wolf Designs to wrap the car and as usual they did a killer job. Hell RAZR catches your eye right away and once you see it in action there is no doubt you’ll agree this custom build is nothing short of impressive, it was definitely no surprise Hell RAZR won Best in Show at Camp RZR.
