Muddin for the Military 2016

Every year on the 4th of July we celebrate our nation’s independence, we gather with friends and family on this national holiday or holiday weekend to enjoy summer themed activates like BBQ and bonfires. We display our patriotism with red, white and blue decorations and clothing resembling our nation’s flag, incorporate patriotic songs like the Star Spangled Banner, and discharge fireworks in celebration. It’s the one holiday where Americans truly express their love for our great country. For the past several years, we’ve spent our holiday weekend at Muddy Bottoms ATV and Recreation Park in Sarepta, Louisiana where a group called Lone Star Warriors Outdoors puts on a UTV event that demonstrates an outstanding act of patriotism, Muddin’ for the Military.

Muddin for the Military 2016 Mud Race

2016 marks the 5th Annual LSWO Muddin’ for the Military event where thousands of off-road enthusiasts from across the nation traveled to Louisiana to participate in a weekend full of camping, trail riding, muddin’ and daily entertainment. With no shortage of fun, LSWO organizes a schedule full of events like the CMR races (mud racing), a poker run, live music, a fireworks display and even a hot dog eating contest. Muddin’ for the Military isn’t just an ordinary UTV event, it’s a charity event organized to raise money for the LSWO organization.

Lone Star Warriors Outdoors is a nonprofit organization dedicated to giving back to our nation’s combat injured warriors, veterans who have been injured in the line of duty. Chris Gill, Lone Star Warriors Outdoors founder/president said “These men and women are our Nation’s most treasured asset and we need to say ‘Thank You’ to them and help them in any way possible.” LSWO helps to promote confidence, healing and a sense of belonging to injured veterans by taking them on all expense paid outdoor expeditions like hunting and fishing.

Throughout the weekend LSWO had many organized events, including a live and silent auction, designed to raise money for their foundation. PRP Seats, a Wet Sounds Stealth Sound Bar, KFI Winch, Gator Waders, 2 AR-15’s and 2 Super ATV gift certificates were just a few of the great items that were auctioned off.  The off-road community really showed their generosity, in total LSWO raised $60,543 at this year’s event. Title sponsor Super ATV was there as well, not only did they display their latest products and UTV builds, they did their part to raise funds for LSWO by selling their own event t-shirts; all proceeds went to the LSWO foundation.

Muddin for the Military 2016 Buggy Wash

The location for Muddin’ for the Military is a prime off-roading park; we give it 10 out of 10. Muddy Bottoms, one of the largest ATV and UTV parks in the world, offers 5,000 acres of natural beauty with hundreds of miles of trails, an 11-acre mud pit and first rate accommodations including a pro shop, fueling station, shower house, a buggy wash (which is free of charge), a kids water park, a state of the art outdoor amphitheater and over 180 full service RV hookups. Muddy Bottoms is great riding destination for both family trips and party atmospheres, we definitely recommend that you put this park on your bucket list of places to ride.

Muddin for the Military 2016

All in all, Muddin’ for the Military 2016 was a great success for both attendees and the LSWO foundation, we are proud to honor our country by giving back to our nation’s vets and we look forward to doing it again in 2017. It’s never too early to start planning your next 4th of July; we invite you to join us and the Lone Star Warriors Outdoors group at next year’s event.
