2018 Rally on the Rocks
Moab, Utah
May 14th – May 19th
Moab, Utah; it’s easily one of the most amazing places in the United States. Leaving you feeling like you’re on another planet, Moab’s vast terrain, filled with deep canyons and natural rock formations that meet huge rock arches, snowcapped mountains and the Colorado River, offers incredible breath taking panoramic views unlike anywhere else. An epicenter for outdoor activity, Moab offers thousands of miles of trails, from old scenic mining roads to technical, slick rock off-roading loops, making it a premier destination point for UTV adventures and a great place for an annual SxS rally.
2018 marks the 9th year for the annual Discount Tire Rally on the Rocks UTV event held in Moab. One thing that makes this week long rally different from most is the guided trail rides each day, attendees can sign up for one of 15+ trails ranging from novice to extremely challenging. The daily rides depart between 10 – 10:30 in the morning and return mid to late afternoon depending on the trail and if anyone had any hiccups during the day. Seasoned trail guides lead each group of riders out on the marked trails of the vast Moab terrain, helping drivers take the right line and to push their limits while making sure everyone has a safe and fun trip.
The event is headquartered at the Old Spanish Trail Arena just on the outskirts of town, just minutes south bound on HWY 191. The arena is a perfect place to host the event, with plenty of parking and room for a ton of vendors. Accessibility was easy, plus if you wanted to, it didn’t take much to get your UTV registered to drive around town. Most people would drive from their hotel, house or campsite right to the event, even out to dinner afterwards; Moab is definitely a UTV friendly town.
Many aftermarket UTV parts and accessory vendors were present at the event with booths set up in and around the arena, including STUFF brands: PRP Seats, SpeedStrap, MTX Audio, MSA Wheels, KMC Wheels, XTC Power Products, Assault Industries, Method Race Wheels, Pro Armor, Tensor Tire, EFX Tires, ZBroz Racing, Trail Armor, Axia Alloys, Audio Formz, ITP Tire and Wheel, STI Tire and Wheel, MB Quart, Hifonics, GMZ Race Products, SSV Works, Sedona Tire and Wheel, GBC Motorsports, Super ATV, CST Tires, Maxxis Tires, MotoRoof, Rugged Radios and Rigid Industries. Whew, guess you could say it seemed like everyone as there.
Many of the vendors participated in the daily rides too, several of which were ride sponsors. Even some companies, like Seizmik and Rogue Offroad, showed up at the event just to ride. It was definitely great to catch up with everyone.
OEMs like Textron Off-Road, Can-Am, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Cub Cadet were present showing off their latest models of side by sides. It was great to check out the new machines and chat with representatives from each company.
Title sponsor of the event Textron Off-road even brought out a fleet of Wildcat XXs offering demo rides to attendees, the new Wildcat XX is one fun machine to drive. Textron really went all out, they even raffled one off at the event; the lucky winner was extremely excited and is most likely already enjoying his new SxS.
Aside from checking out the vendor and OEM booths, the rally had some scheduled evening activities too, like an ice cream social and BBQ dinner. On Friday night, with the help of many participating event sponsors and vendors, a ton of prizes were raffled off. From several sets of tires to gift cards and aftermarket accessories, many people did not go home empty handed.
All in all, Rally on the Rocks 2018 was an awesome event. As far as an experience of a lifetime, this event really tops it all. From Moab’s epic trail riding and scenic views to the great people you meet along the away, we guarantee you’ll have a great time. We can’t wait to go back. We recommend putting this event on your bucket list; it’s definitely not too early to start making plans for Rally on the Rocks 2019.
